‘The ultimate in recycling’: Earth-friendly burials

Fran Sullivan-Fahs has a worm composting bin where she recycles fruit peels and other kitchen scraps. She gives away worms as Christmas presents to other gardeners. So when she dies, Sullivan-Fahs says, she wants to be put in a plain wooden casket and buried without a vault to encourage decomposition. She also doesn’t want to be embalmed because it involves chemicals.

I’d never heard of Green Burial before, but being an environmentalist as well as someone who believes in planning ahead, I was intrigued. By the time I’d finished reading through all of the very extensive information on the site, I was fascinated and more than a little excited.

Woodland Burial System to Debut Next Year (Korea)

A woodland burial system is scheduled to go into effect from next year but initial confusion has pitted policymakers against environmental activists. Civil activists claimed that the new burial system would ruin nature, as it will expand burial sites in forests.

Green Burial

I don’t normally post photos from my commercial shoots, but this one seemed appropriate as the theme is ‘Green Burial’: simply allowing people to rest in peace in way more sacred than being placed in a plastic bag never to decompose. Working in the studio always reminds me how much I love to work with the control of light, though natural light can of course produce equally amazing results.
